The Walk Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The Walk at JBR or Jumeirah Beach Residence, is a beachfront promenade that hosts a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. In total, there are 305 outlets, including 69 restaurants. Let's not forget the beautiful views of the beach and the Arabian Gulf.

Set in the heart of the Dubai Marina, The Walk is a hugely popular venue for both locals and visitors. There's an enormous variety of food on offer, with eateries including Coco's, Paul's, Le Pain Quotidien, Zaatar w Zeit, Butcher Shop & Grill, Napoletana and Ruby Tuesdays. Restaurants and cafes do not serve alcohol but some of the hotels along The Walk will have bars and restaurants with an alcohol license. This cobblestone boulevard also has a bulging events calendar, so you will always be entertained.

Open every Wednesday to Saturday, from October to April, is the outdoor market named 'Covent Garden Market', which features stalls that sell handmade jewellery, soaps, dresses, souvenirs and other unique trinkets.

The best time to visit The Walk if you're into big crowds is during the weekend (Friday and Saturday), when what seems like most of Dubai has decended on the scene. The public beach at JBR is also close by if you'd like to take in some rays. Recent construction in the heart of the district has somewhat dampened the charm of this otherwise remarkably popular spot. Be ready to face a few traffic jams if you're self-commuting. Otherwise, you are better off hopping a cab or taking public transport to avoid headaches associated with parking.
